More and more people are developing a strong interest in camping, which has led various industries to increasingly converge towards the outdoors. Post-pandemic, people are gradually valuing outdoor activities and venturing into the wilderness.
Many outdoor media outlets are now focusing on promoting camping cultures, such as Mounster's mountain culture, which seamlessly combines camping with trends. When it comes to camping equipment, we've compiled a list of four essential camping items tailored for beginner campers.
Strictly speaking, the necessary camping equipment depends on the location of the campsite. For example, if you're pitching a tent in deep mountain forests to experience the life of a hermit, the required camping equipment would differ from what you'd need for summiting a peak. However, regardless of the camping location, one principle guides our selection of camping gear: portability, versatility, and lightweight.

1. Tent (In outdoor camping, the tent is your home; wherever the tent is, there is your home!)

In outdoor camping, tents are a major necessity and vary based on weather, the number of users, and weight. For instance, in summer, it's best to use tents with mosquito nets and high waterproof performance. Tents with larger capacities are preferable for more people.
Outdoor tents commonly use PE material, with the quality mainly determined by its thickness and weave density. Higher-end outdoor tents typically use Oxford fabric treated to be waterproof up to at least 1500MM. For general camping, it's recommended to use tents with 800MM-1200MM waterproofing.

2. Backpack (The backpack serves as a mobile storage container for essential daily items.)

There are two types: large backpacks ranging from 50 to 80 liters and small backpacks ranging from 20 to 35 liters, also known as "assault packs." Large backpacks are primarily used for transporting mountaineering supplies, while small backpacks are used for high-altitude climbing or summit assaults.
When selecting these backpacks for outdoor camping, we consider their capacity and waterproofing. Even in heavy rain, these backpacks won't leak. Moreover, specialized mountaineering backpacks are designed for extreme environments, with a slim and long body that conforms to the natural curve of the human back, significantly reducing pressure on the shoulders.

3. Stove (Food is essential; how can outdoor camping be complete without cooking?)

When choosing a stove, consider four aspects: weight, altitude suitability, temperature, and the fuel's burning efficiency.
Weight is mainly for portability, while height and temperature are to adapt to outdoor environments where air pressure varies with altitude, affecting fuel selection. Common outdoor stoves include gas stoves, oil stoves, alcohol stoves, and wood stoves, each with its advantages and disadvantages.

4. Camping Lantern, the guide in the pitch-black night!

Camping without a lantern is unimaginable! Illumination tools are indispensable for nighttime activities at the campsite and serve various purposes such as scaring away wild animals and indicating the campsite's location.
Camping lanterns should be lightweight and portable. Nowadays, camping lanterns mostly use energy-efficient cold-light tubes or LED bulbs. Rechargeable camping lanterns are preferred for their convenience, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness.

5. Sleeping Bag, keeping you warm and cozy!

Whether it's winter or summer, if you're camping outdoors, a sleeping bag is indispensable. As temperatures drop sharply at night, a sleeping bag ensures you have a good night's sleep. Additionally, sleeping bags can prevent mosquito bites, ensuring a restful sleep.
Good sleeping bags often use waterproof and breathable materials to prevent condensation from forming on the inside due to the temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the tent, ensuring the sleeping bag stays dry.
