In 2023, the cost of solar power dropped to around $60 per megawatt-hour, lower than natural gas at $70, coal at $117, and nuclear at $180. Even with the extra costs of integrating solar into the energy grid, solar is expected to become even cheaper over the next decade.
Meanwhile, fossil fuel prices have been rising steadily since 2000, impacted by global events and market shifts. This trend makes solar energy an even more attractive investment for governments and businesses aiming to reduce costs and carbon footprints.

The solar industry is not just growing—it’s innovating. New technologies like perovskite tandem solar cells are breaking efficiency records, exceeding 33% efficiency, while traditional silicon panels hover below 30%. These new cells capture more sunlight and could soon be deployed on a commercial scale.
We’re also seeing the rise of double-sided solar panels that can collect sunlight from both sides, boosting energy output by 10-20%. And transparent solar panels are emerging, designed to replace windows and building facades, turning entire structures into solar generators.
